Mission

• We strive to promote responsible hunting practices that conserve the rich biodiversity of the Free State and South Africa.
• To develop a world-class shooting range for shooters in various disciplines to pursue their passion for sport shooting.
• Create opportunities for community engagement and education about firearms, hunting and sustainable use and conservation.
• Form partnerships with local organizations, conservation groups and stakeholders.
• Foster a deep respect for nature and wildlife in future generations to understand sustainable use.
• Create opportunities for members to develop by organizing workshops, hunting trips, talks, conservation projects and shooting days.
• Create an engaged community that promotes the conservation of South Africa’s natural heritage, the love of firearms, responsible hunting and sport shooting disciplines.

Shooting Range

Information


• Shooting range is accredited by the SAPS (accreditation no Azc/2024/020). View Certificate

• We have xx qualified Range Officers.

• Strict regulations apply regarding the safety of shooters, spectators and range officers on the range.

• 430 m shooting range, which is 120 m long and can accommodate +/- 100 shooters simultaneously (the width of the range also allows spectators).

• Various shooting tables for left and right-handed shooters.

• Various “obstacles” to practice PRS style sport shooting.

• Storage and bathroom facilities.

• Shotgun range, as well as clay pigeon shooter available.

• Long-distance range that can currently accommodate 500-1,600 meters. The 1,000 meter as well as 1 mile (1,600 meter) range has permanent gongs.

• MDS range (still under development).

• Various gongs, types of targets and obstacles are available.


• Almost all disciplines (combinations of target and firearm) of shooting can be accommodated:

o Airgun

o Margin

o Handgun

o Hunting rifle

o Semi Auto

o Shotgun


Shooting Disciplines


 • PRS style gong shooting.

 • Shooting on own targets and distances (for practice, accuracy and load determination).

 • Formal SA Hunters shooting tables.

 • Handgun and Rimfire postal league type competitions.

 • Clay pigeon shooting.

 • Long range shooting up to 1,600 meters (1 mile).







Activities

 • Branch meetings every other month.

 • The shooting range is open every Saturday for members and non-members (who want to test loads or just come and practice).

 • Informal shooting days and formal shooting competitions.

 • Ommivuur discussions with legends in the wildlife, conservation and hunting industry.

 • Training for dedicated hunters and dedicated marksmen.

 • Workshops and talks to make members better hunters and marksmen.

 • We can also open the range for team building, birthday parties or any other type of function.

• Further development of shotgun range.
